Dr Cross has successfully completed specialist surgical training both in the United Kingdom and Australia.
Dr Jane Cross was awarded a Master’s Degree from Cambridge University, England. She then completed her medical education in London where she graduated with a distinction in her MBBS (University of London). She undertook an internship in London and residency in Bristol before being accepted onto the Oxford Basic Surgical Training Programme. Having gained membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MRCS), she was then accepted onto the Oxford Higher Surgical Training Programme where she underwent specialist training in both General and Vascular surgery. During her training, she completed a research Medical Doctorate degree (PhD equivalent) at University College London (UCL). She was awarded her Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS) before completing clinical fellowships in Paris (Vascular and Endocrine Surgery) and Sydney. She gained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and is currently practising as a full-time General Surgeon at both the Lismore Base Hospital and St Vincent’s Private Hospitals in Lismore, NSW.
She has a special interest in breast, vascular, endocrine and laparoscopic surgery.
RESEARCH, UNIVERSITY APPOINTMENTS & PUBLICATIONS
Dr Cross holds the position of Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sydney, Australia and is actively involved in the training of junior doctors from this institution and others. In addition to her PhD thesis, she has written several other research papers many of which has been published in highly regarded peer-review medical journals.
Dr Cross attends conferences and courses both nationally and internationally. This ensures she is up to date on current advances and best practice application of general surgery across key specialist areas including emergency surgery.
